4th Annual Multidisciplinary City Wide Breast Cancer Seminar

October 11, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Seminar Overview / Objectives

This 2-hour seminar will begin with an overview of all breast imaging studies. Emphasis on strengths and weaknesses of each will be presented and discussed in both lay and medical terms.

By the end of the seminar, each participant should understand:

  1. How the Battle of Waterloo can be used to understand the multidisciplinary approach to the management of the breast cancer patient.
  2. How the game of football can be used to understand how our complex, miraculous, and properly functioning immune system helps protect us from cancer.
  3. Basic overview of the immune system.
  4. How that same immune system when improperly functioning has been linked to cancer progression and other chronic diseases.
  5. The relationship between tumor associated macrophages (improperly functioning immune system) and Vitamin D.
  6. The relationship between Vitamin D and the family members: Introduction to 2018.
  7. Vitamin D deficiency, insufficiency and current debates on what are accepted normal values.
  8. Update on ethnicity / Vitamin D deficiency / cancer aggression and progression.
  9. Basic overview of nutrition support strategies for the breast cancer patient.
